Independent Psychological Evaluations

Independent psychological evaluations provided to support claims with objective, professional findings and psychological data. Dr. Kim provides comprehensive psychological evaluations and medical nexus opinions for veterans seeking service connection through the VA disability process.

A nexus letter is a formal medical opinion used in U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs disability claims. It addresses whether a mental health condition is:

  • Directly related to military service

  • Aggravated by service

  • Secondary to a service-connected condition

Each opinion must meet a specific evidentiary standard, typically stating whether a condition is “at least as likely as not” (50% probability or greater) connected to service. A nexus letter is a professional medical opinion that clearly explains the relationship between a current mental health condition and military service.

Nexus opinions are developed through a comprehensive process that may include:

  • Review of medical and service records

  • Structured clinical interview

  • Diagnostic assessment using DSM-5-TR criteria

  • Standardized psychological testing (when indicated)

  • Functional impact analysis (work, relationships, daily life)

  • Evidence-based clinical formulation

This service is designed for individuals seeking a thorough, well-supported professional opinion—particularly in complex cases, prior denials, or secondary service connection claims.

**DISCLAIMER: Our role is to provide an independent, objective medical opinion based on clinical findings and available records. We do not guarantee outcomes, but we are committed to delivering evaluations that are thorough, accurate, and aligned with professional and ethical standards.
